Nice hotel in stately building with several lounge spaces on the ground floor. There is a restaurant and both houses are connected by glass corridor. Our wish was fulfilled and we were given room in the historical part of the hotel which has many nice features. Afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast were all included which was quite useful given prices to have a meal somewhere outside. Afternoon cake was not abundant, however everyone present got a bite or two. Dinner had only one choice of (mediocre) hot meat dish, but more choice of tasty salad and side dishes, therefore even vegetarian in our company left satisfied. The soup was perfect! Great variety of tasty options for the breakfast. The hotel is children and animal friendly. Public transport nearby.

Great hotel, very nicely decorated and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We were given a room in the newer part at the back of the hotel which was a little worn but after speaking to reception we swapped to a room in the original building which had clearly been renovated and was much nicer. The room was cozy, comfortable and quiet and equipped with everything we needed including a hair dryer and iron. Breakfast, dinner and coffees were included in the room rate and tasty. In the afternoons they brought out cake which we were not expecting! We really enjoyed relaxing at the hotel in-between exploring Oslo. The hotel was a short walk from the centre or there was a tram stop right outside it if it was raining.

Aahh!!! The perfect place to reset our circadian rhythm after such a long sleep-deprived journey from Texas, and before embarking on our 2-week cruise! Clarion Collection Hotel Gabelshus, with its lovely, peaceful, beautiful surroundings and its 1912 origins, is my kind of ideal out-of-the-past hideaway. Not only was a sumptuous breakfast included, but so was a delicious evening meal, AND before that, a Norwegian coffee and pastry break called fika ("fee-kuh") was also complimentary. Jet lag never tasted so good! We could have stayed here all day, but the whole of Oslo was yet to be discovered!

It’s a beautiful building both from outside and inside. There is big common area with a fireplace to read a book or just relax. The room was small but very cute and cozy. The best part of the stay is the dinners and breakfast. It was probably the best food and service I have had in Oslo. Very tasty, fresh, great quality and variety. Although on the weekends breakfasts starts later, probably at 8, they were prepared at 7 and let me have my breakfast earlier! It was highly appreciated as I was in a rush to the airport! The chef and restaurant staff do amazing job!

Loved the location, it was only a short tram ride away from the part of city centre that we needed to access daily. Also, loved daily breakfast and dinner options. Though options were limited, they were delicious, covered all the healthy food groups, and were of great quality. In fact, I personally liked the limited options as it meant far less food waste than you see at the bigger hotels and resorts around the world these days. The room was really warm and well insulated, so even in -10/-15 degrees celsius, we were warm as toast :)
