The hotel is located near the city center in a very quiet and elegant neighbourhood. We stayed at room “Fru Riekeles” which is very spacious and tastefully decorated. Both breakfast and dinner were great. In the case of the breakfast, you can choose between a big variety of quality things, that should satisfy everybody’s palates. For dinner, two main hot courses plus the soup of the day and also a variety of different salads and other cold dishes, all of them well cooked. Finally, the hotel staff was very kind and helpful. To sum up: the experience in Home Hotel Gabelshus has been fantastic and has contributed to make our stay in Oslo an unforgettable holiday.

The property is beautiful and green, with a cozy, home-like atmosphere. The food had a delicious, homemade taste. We stayed there with our 1-year-old son, and he ate really well because he enjoyed the food so much. They made a coffee machine available all day, and we also appreciated the traditional fika — a lovely touch. One day they served waffles, and on another, a chocolate cake so perfect I found myself eating four slices every afternoon — and I don't even usually like chocolate cake! The water in the bathtub was at a perfect temperature, and the bedroom had a lovely view. The location was excellent — just a 3-minute walk to the nearest bus stop. We didn’t walk this route to the center, but the bus followed a straight line, and the view of the local shops along the way made it seem like the walk would have been enjoyable and worthwhile. The neighborhood is wonderful — peaceful and charming.

Breakfast was exceptional, plenty of choice to cater for all needs. My husband is vegetarian and he loved all the food. We also enjoyed afternoon fika and there was great choice for evening meals. Mains as well as loads of salad options. Delicious. Coffee and teas available at all times. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Loved the hotel. It's location is peaceful in a beautiful area of Oslo. It was about a 20 min walk down to the vibrant harbour area and the local tram stop was about 2 mins away. It was lovely to leave the busy tourist areas and go back to the peaceful surroundings of the hotel after busy days sightseeing. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

I love this hotel, it feels so warm and welcoming- the staff here are amazing as they all are in Petter Stordalen’s hotels. The interior design is just magnificent in my opinion. The area is excellent but a bit far from Sørenga/Bjørkvika and Barkode, but a quick walk to Solliplass. Love the dinner buffet as a quick meal before maybe eating out late.

The most important to know about the property is that they offer a great breakfast and dinner; Mr Kenans the cook delighted us with the best taste of Norwegian cuisine. His kindness surrounded us when we left earlier than the breakfast time, however he offered us the chance to eat before leaving. Another thing my husband mostly loved, was the heated floor in the shower; enjoyable for sure. The property is otherwise clean, surrounded by a beautiful garden, lot of art, close location to the tram number 13, closer to the Marina and Freya the walrus statue or to the Royal Palace and then the Nobel Peace Center that we did by foot. If i come back to Norway I will for sure stay there!

Comfortable, well furnished room. Breakfast buffet superb, with a wide range of options, well prepared. Excellent coffee machines in the dining room are available throughout the day for guests to help themselves (including hot chocolate, tea, cappuccino etc). Beautifully decorated cosy sitting areas on the ground floor for guests to have drinks, play games, read, chat etc.

Aahh!!! The perfect place to reset our circadian rhythm after such a long sleep-deprived journey from Texas, and before embarking on our 2-week cruise! Clarion Collection Hotel Gabelshus, with its lovely, peaceful, beautiful surroundings and its 1912 origins, is my kind of ideal out-of-the-past hideaway. Not only was a sumptuous breakfast included, but so was a delicious evening meal, AND before that, a Norwegian coffee and pastry break called fika ("fee-kuh") was also complimentary. Jet lag never tasted so good! We could have stayed here all day, but the whole of Oslo was yet to be discovered!

Loved the location, it was only a short tram ride away from the part of city centre that we needed to access daily. Also, loved daily breakfast and dinner options. Though options were limited, they were delicious, covered all the healthy food groups, and were of great quality. In fact, I personally liked the limited options as it meant far less food waste than you see at the bigger hotels and resorts around the world these days. The room was really warm and well insulated, so even in -10/-15 degrees celsius, we were warm as toast :)

Nice hotel in stately building with several lounge spaces on the ground floor. There is a restaurant and both houses are connected by glass corridor. Our wish was fulfilled and we were given room in the historical part of the hotel which has many nice features. Afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast were all included which was quite useful given prices to have a meal somewhere outside. Afternoon cake was not abundant, however everyone present got a bite or two. Dinner had only one choice of (mediocre) hot meat dish, but more choice of tasty salad and side dishes, therefore even vegetarian in our company left satisfied. The soup was perfect! Great variety of tasty options for the breakfast. The hotel is children and animal friendly. Public transport nearby.
